How about homework as a fun family activity. They are also great to glue in writing notebooks for future writing topics. I use word searches to initiate discussions, or even just give it as morning work. Word searches are a great way to get your kids talking about the vocabulary. It's a time when it would least likely impact businesses. Plus, discuss why the time change is at 2:00 a.m. You could even have your students write about whether they would like their state to be on standard or daylight saving time. PLUS, I mention that Arizona and Hawaii do not participate. On the word search there is a footnote explaining that it is often mispronounced or spelled incorrectly with an 's' on savings.
